Hen and chicks

Although the broody Speckled Sussex is still sitting tight on her nest and I am disturbing her as little as possible, I did see the tiny head of a Welsummer chick poking out from underneath her this morning. Now it is just a waiting game. It is important not to disturb her as she needs to sit for as long as the eggs take to hatch and not be tempted to leave the nest with the first few chicks.
