Broody and chicks - Photos

A few photos of the broody Speckled Sussex and her chicks; 5 Welsummer and 2 Indian game cross.
For now they are still in the pen in the shed. Tomorrow or at the weekend they will go outside in the small A frame ark.
They all seem to be doing well and she seems to be a very attentive mother hen.

The chicks hatched, in the incubator, last week are now 6 days old. Already they have their wing feathers and a few are starting to sprout fluffy tails. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly they grow and how they have so many natural instincts. From a day old they will scratch for food and now will either freeze or lie flat to the ground at any perceived danger.
