The turkey poults are now 4 weeks old and almost fully feathered. They are still with both hens who insist on brooding them at night despite their size. They have ' found' their wings, have started to squabble amongst themselves and the young males are displaying in the manner of an adult stag. They enjoy a daily supply of greens and share the dust bath with the mother hens, emerging a delicate shade of pink, thanks to Devon's red soil.
In a couple of weeks the hens will be ready to leave them and then a week or so later the poults will be old enough to venture outside.
awww. yum.
